One of the best female programmers of computer games Allegra Geller (Jennifer Jason Leigh - the Hitchhiker [1986], Mechanic [2004]) is testing a new game in virtual reality. At the beginning of the is invaded by a fanatical killer who uses a strange organic weapon. With the help of friend Ted (Jude Law) she manages to escape, and that he stays with her as her protector. The device in which is stored the only version of the program, eXistenZ is damaged and so, Allegra convinces Ted to establish a port directly into his own body so that they can continue in the game. Events are pointing to a decisive battle, in which the pair gets into a strange danger and no longer able to recognize where the line between reality and virtual reality.
