The story is based on real events. In the mid-19th. century there were in Spain to a series of long-unsolved bestial murders. Dozens of victims were literally rozsápány, mutilated and was them removed subcutaneous fat. No one knew for what reason this is happening. There was a rumor about a werewolf that is by day a law-abiding person. In one village suddenly appears a man named Miquel Romasanta. This movie was based on true events as recorded in the judicial writings of that time. Manuel Blanco Romasanta (1809-1854) is the first documented case of lycanthropy, and at the same time the first serial killer in Spain. He confessed to thirteen murders and sentenced was for the nine of them to death which was later commuted to life imprisonment. Court proceedings came to be known as the Case of the wolf man was in court led under no. 1778.
