Splatterová horror comedy Re-Animator is one of the adorable mutated and aggressive children fashion ultrabrutálních horror films of the early eighties. Today already classic genre work about the ignited experimenter Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs), who, in the name of science produced by a violent zombie, took elements of classic horror films of the thirties and the sixties (mad scientists and their mysterious substance with magical effects) with a new penchant for excessive physicality, bloody effects and black humor. It's hard to say if he would think of the film master cultivated "cosmic horror" H. P. Lovecraft, according to which the stories originated, however, in the tradition arising from the macabre grotesques of a literary subgenre weird fiction fits perfectly. Next to the blissfully afektovaného Jeffrey Combs in the role of Herbert West, whose power nothing can compete with the best outputs Bela Lugosi, it is necessary to appreciate the great splatter effects from the origin of the japanese trikaře with the eloquent pseudonym of Screaming Mad George, or the music of Richard Bunch, which from the motive vykradeného from Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) makes fondly the monstrous cabaret. Re-Animator is also the first fruit of the cooperation of the later permanent associates, director Stuart Gordon, producer Brian Yuzny and the owners of the film studio, Empire Pictures brothers Bandových. Thanks to this film Gordon with Yuznou become nejuznávanějšími movie adaptátory Lovecraft, a reputation confirmed by other images like the Bride of Re-Animatora (1990), the Return of Re-Animator (2003), From beyond (1986), Dagon (2001), Necronomicon (1994) or the episode Dreams in the witch house from the tv series Masters of horror (2005).
