This little-known and rarely featured film is a penetrating portrait of the alienation and at the same time sophisticated deconstruction of genre conventions associated with movie vampires. Martin is just a sexually disturbed young man, or, as claimed by his superstitious cousin, the legendary Nosferatu? This is just one of the provocative questions with which Romero is playing. Represent the black and white passages of Martin's past, or just a media-fed fantasies? Even this question remains open. However, whether Martin is a mythic beast, or the current psychopath, feel the need to kill and drink blood. Having no fangs or supernatural powers, must rely on their own ingenuity and special tools, like syringes and razor blades. The scene in which pursues its prey, evoke the extreme tension, which frees up the ironic humor in the passages, when their inclinations confers to the radio announcers.
