Edinburgh, 1831. The head of the medical faculty, dr. MacFarlane (Henry Daniell) buys dead bodies for the school of the autopsy from the carriage driver John Gray (Boris Karloff). He knows perfectly well that Grey digs up freshly buried humans from the grave. The legal way would mean that the faculty couldn't get enough of the "preparations" for teaching. Grey is however in fact a bully without conscience, and if necessary, provide the corpse by means other than from the cemetery. MacFarlane, however, unable to say anything, because it is Gray from the past debt. The new assistant to dr. Mcfarlane, an honest young man, Donald Fettes (Russell Wade), however, because of questionable dealings, your supervisor is implicated in the network of events from which there is no escape... the Classic horror tale by director Robert Wise was founded by the eponymous short story by Robert Louis Stevenson. In the main role of a villain, it was the legendary Boris Karloff (including a representative of the monsters in Frankenstein [1931]). In a supporting role appears and another famous actor since Bela Lugosi (Dracula [1931]).
